Community Guidelines

These guidelines keep Vlog.ng a place where real Nigerians can share real life safely. They apply to every video, live stream, comment and message on the platform.

Last updated May 1, 2025

1. Nudity & sexual content

We don't allow nudity, sexual acts, or content that sexualizes minors in any way. Fashion, breastfeeding and cultural or medical content are fine, but anything meant to arouse or exploit gets removed and can lead to a permanent ban.

2. Violence & graphic content

Real fights, accidents, and graphic injury footage are not allowed unless shared for clear news or safety awareness, and even then we may add a warning screen. Content that glorifies violence or cult activity is removed on sight.

3. Hate speech

No attacks on people because of tribe, religion, state of origin, gender, disability or sexual orientation. This covers jokes, slurs and coded language too. Nigeria has enough division already, we're not adding to it here.

4. Harassment & bullying

Targeted insults, coordinated pile-ons, and posting someone's private information to shame them (doxxing) are all bans. This includes going after another creator's comment section with your followers.

5. Scams & fraud

Ponzi schemes, fake investment "doublers," romance scam scripts and phishing links have no place on Vlog.ng. If a video promises guaranteed returns overnight, it's coming down, and the account may lose payout access.

6. Impersonation

Don't pretend to be another creator, a celebrity, a bank, or Vlog.ng staff. Parody is fine if it's clearly labeled. Accounts built to trick people into thinking they're official get suspended immediately.

7. Dangerous acts

Stunts that could seriously hurt you or someone watching and copying you (train surfing, dangerous "danfo" stunts, reckless bike wheelies in traffic) aren't allowed, especially content aimed at minors.

8. Election & political misinformation

False claims about voting dates, polling units, INEC results or manipulated footage of candidates are removed. Genuine political opinion and commentary is welcome, made-up "facts" are not.

9. Child safety

Any content that endangers, exploits or sexualizes a minor is removed and reported to the relevant authorities without exception. This is our hardest line and it doesn't bend for anyone.

10. Copyright

Only upload music, clips and photos you own or have rights to use. We honor takedown requests from rights holders, and repeat copyright strikes lead to account termination.

11. Spam

Mass-posting the same comment, bot-driven follows, engagement-bait ("like if you're from Lagos, comment your state") used to manipulate the algorithm, and fake follower services are all against the rules.

12. Fake giveaways

Giveaways that ask people to pay an "activation fee," share bank details, or that never actually pick a winner are fraud, not marketing. Real giveaways must clearly state the sponsor and rules.

13. Illegal products

No sale or promotion of firearms, hard drugs, counterfeit currency, fake documents, or unregistered pharmaceuticals. This applies to product-tagged videos and live shopping streams too.

14. Threats

Direct or implied threats of violence against a person, a group, a business or a public official are taken seriously and escalated straight to our safety team, sometimes to law enforcement.

Strike system

Most violations earn a strike rather than an instant ban. Strikes expire after 90 days of clean activity.

  • 1 First strike: video removed, warning issued, no reach penalty.
  • 2 Second strike: 7-day feature restriction (no Live, no Discover placement).
  • 3 Third strike: payouts paused for 30 days pending review.
  • 4 Fourth strike: account suspended.

Severe violations (child safety, credible threats, illegal products) skip straight to suspension, strikes don't apply.
